The Nelons accomplished musical career and ministry includes: six DOVE Awards, three GRAMMY nominations, several “Number One” songs on the radio charts, a prestigious New York Film Festival Bronze Award, numerous Singing News Fan Awards, and appearances all around the world in various venues. As a family, Jason, Kelly, and Amber continue to sing with a full heart of praise to the only One worthy, Jesus Christ the Son of God. Kelly’s father, the late Rex Nelon was the founder of The Nelons, and with such a musical history to their credit, it hardly seems right to say “they are just getting started.” But that’s exactly how Jason & Kelly feel. “We have so many new and exciting opportunities and projects right now…we feel more enthused about the future than ever before!”
“Worship” is a word heard often after an evening with The Nelons in concert. Audiences of all ages enjoy their innovative ability to harmonize and integrate many styles of music, with each lyric and musical arrangement delivering truth that points everyone to the One & Only, Triune God! Jason’s ability to compose the Word of God into lyrics, Kelly’s humble transparent testimony of her life’s ups and downs, and Amber bringing electricity to a song with vocal capabilities far beyond her teenage years, all working together to bring you an evening you’ll not soon forget! Some people laugh, some cry, but all feel encouraged and strengthened because they have been purposefully ushered into the Presence of the Lord.
From January 2004 until the present-day, Jason, Kelly, and (their oldest daughter) Amber have been working alongside Dr. Ken Martin at Grace Baptist Church as Jason continues to serve as the Worship Pastor and Kelly as chorus/vocal instructor for the Academy, while the Nelons serve as artist-in-residence. Jason, Kelly, and Amber lead worship weekly for the GBC worship services and for the Academy chapel services. Jason and Kelly have become sought after worship leaders for various retreats, conferences, and worship venues across the nation, as the Nelons continue their touring schedule.
The Nelons are currently wrapping up production for their latest project “You Are God” and just finished recording two Gaither Homecoming Videos soon to be released. They are also in midst of writing/arranging/producing a choral project featuring the music & worship ministry of Grace Baptist Church, to be released later in the year. All the while Jason continues to write songs, arrange, produce and play for other Christian music artists as well.
Nelon-News on the home-front is Amber graduating from high-school and then plans to attend college locally in the fall. Jason & Kelly are so proud of Amber and her already many accomplishments in music, but mostly of her humility in which she serves. Both of Amber’s children’s records were nominated for DOVE Awards, making her the youngest DOVE Nominee ever! “She’s just a normal teenager who loves God, loves our church, and loves to be involved in activities such as sports, missions, and her youth group” states Kelly.
Focused and grounded in the Word of God, the Nelons are a refreshing change of pace, in a self-centered society. “We know that we are nothing apart from the grace of God, and want to share His gospel with whomever God allows, bringing more worshippers to our Great God!” |
